I feel warmly welcome every time I walk in the door. Friendly, kind, and accepting of all people.

From the moment you walk through the doors, you experience the feeling of Welcome. Everyone is happy to see you, eager to be helpful. We chose to join Oak Grove because it is a spirit-filled church, striving to be alive and aware to the needs of the members and the community. There are many opportunities to serve in volunteering with Loaves and Fishes, Oasis, and VEAP (to name a few things). The Dinnners of Eight are a wonderful way to get to know more members. They have a wonderful music program, a delightful program for youth, strong high school program. Oak Grove is a place where you can BELONG. Hope you will visit and experience the blessings of this wonderful congregation.

When I first moved to the area, Oak Grove was just one of those places that you passed by, thinking that it might be an interesting church to check out but not right now because I'm in a hurry. Then one day I asked my boyfriend if he would check it out with me. He agreed, and off we went to the service.
We were greeted by no fewer than 3 people almost the instant we walked through the door, and while it might have been a bit overwhelming in some instances, they made us feel comfortable and welcome right away. At no point did we feel pressured to stay or return, or did we feel we were trying to be pulled in to something we weren't ready for. After the service we were given a welcome package with information about the church, the programs they provided, and a couple very delicious chocolate chip cookies!
I returned to the church several times over the next few months, each time still greeted with the same enthusiasm, where everyone was genuinely happy to see me return. They assured me that they were there for me in whatever capacity I needed - whether I wanted to be a recurring visitor, a regular friend, or a member of the church - and that I was welcome no matter which I chose. I eventually became a member and I have been participating in a number of their volunteer and worship programs and they are all so enlightening and rewarding. After feeling ostracized and rejected by my old church over small, petty things, this welcoming congregation and ministry was exactly what I needed, and I plan to continue attending and getting involved for as long as I remain in the area.Added October 15, 2016 by Rich Price - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
My spouse and I visited OGPC regularly for a year before becoming members in 2011. We were in our late 20s, so we had become used to the (overly?) enthusiastic welcome churches often reserve for us elusive members of the millennial generation. However, OGPC's welcome was different. We didn't feel that our welcome was for what we could bring to them (more young adults) or what they could bring us (evangelism). We were welcomed as equals--fellow well-meaning but imperfect people wanting to grow and live out our faiths with others
The sermons challenge and inspire us to think, reflect, and grow. The congregation celebrates and cries with each other during life's ups and downs. Its mission outreach extends from local programs addressing homeless and poverty to global programs addressing gender inequity and inadequate medical care. Now that we are parents, we have also appreciated that the church is very kid-friendly (e.g., toy basket in the sanctuary, licensed childcare provider in the nursery, "Children's Church" for 2-5-year-olds during sermons Sept.-May).Added August 12, 2016 by Laura Orr
